Tavira

Here, at what is beleived to have been the medieval residence of the Corte-Real family, were found important archeological remains from the 8th century BC to the 18th century AD.
In addition to the manor of the CORTE-REAL FAMILY (15th-16th century AD) a PHONENICIAN wall (end 8th century BC), important TURDETANIAN layers, including an ox-hide shaped alter (4th century BC) and Islamic residential structures (12th-13th century AD).
A museum dedicated to the Phoenician and Turdetanian periods is planned for this site.
